(Ⅰ) OPGW, OPPC, ADSS optical cable selection guide
1. OPGW optical cable
The technical conditions for selecting OPGW optical cable models are: (a) nominal tensile strength (RTS) (kN) of OPGW optical cable; (b) number of optical fiber cores (SM) of OPGW optical cable; (c) short-circuit current (kA); (d) short-circuit time (s); (e) temperature range (℃).
(1) OPGW optical cable can be selected for lines with high voltage exceeding 110kv and large span (generally above 250M);
(2) OPGW optical cable can be selected when it meets meteorological conditions of different thunderstorm levels and adapts to thunderstorm weather;
(2) The outer diameter and tensile force-to-weight ratio of OPGW optical cable are similar to those of commonly used ground wires. OPGW optical cable can be selected when it can be used to directly replace the original ground wire without changing the line or replacing the tower.
2. OPPC optical cable
(1) 10kV, 35kV and some 66kV lines do not have ground wires or do not have ground wires throughout the lines, so OPGW cannot be installed. OPPC optical cable can be used as an option.
(2) For some old 110kV lines, it is difficult to collect line data and verify the bearing capacity of the towers. It is difficult to modify the tower heads or the modification cost is too high. OPPC optical cable can be used as an option.
(3) The installation of ADSS is restricted by insufficient safety distance between the line and the ground, the inability to solve the problem of crossing, insufficient strength of the towers, and frequent diversions. OPPC optical cable can be used as an option.
(4) When ordinary optical cables are used, there are problems of theft and maintenance, and carrier communication is restricted by climate and terrain, OPPC optical cable can be used as an option.
3. ADSS optical cable
(1) ADSS optical cable is mainly used for high-voltage power grids and medium and low-voltage distribution networks below 110kV.
(2) ADSS optical cable can be used when construction is carried out without power outages and power failures do not affect the normal transmission of optical cables.
(3) ADSS optical cable is preferred when it meets the requirements of harsh environments.
(Ⅱ) Guide for Selection of Optical Cable Fittings
1. Tension clamp:
(1) Head end and terminal tower: 1 set/tower
(2) Tension tower: 2 sets/tower
(3) Corner clamp (pole tower with line angle ≥25°): 2 sets/tower
(4) Optical cable splicing tower: 2 sets/tower
2. Suspension clamp (pole tower with line angle <25°): 1 set/tower
3. Double suspension clamp (suitable for pole towers with large span, high drop and line angle of 25°~60°) 1 set/tower
4. Double tension clamp (generally used in special places such as rivers with large spans and valleys with high drop of OPGW, not limited by line angle and other conditions): 2 sets/tower
5. Shockproof hammer: When the operating tension of OPGW optical cable is greater than 25% of its own breaking strength, it is recommended to select the quantity according to the following table

6. Down conductor clamp: usually one is installed every 1.5m or so. S-type, duckbill type, hot-dip galvanized type are used for iron towers, and clamp type is used for electric poles;
7. ADSS optical cable tangent clamp: suitable for towers with a span of 60m to 150m, line angle <15°, and clamp strength <30KN;
8. ADSS optical cable short-span suspension clamp: suitable for towers with a span of 60m, line angle >15°, and clamp grip <15KN; (the number of sets used is consistent with "1")
9. ADSS optical cable spiral shock absorber: the number will be selected according to the span size and the percentage of the optical cable running tension to the optical cable breaking strength;

10. OPPC joint box: OPPC joint box is very different from OPGW and ADSS. OPPC joint box is energized during operation and requires a combination design or installation of insulators. It is generally installed on a tension tower to connect OPPC and requires a combination of suitable insulators. The pillar-type joint box requires a special joint box platform for fixed use; the hanging joint box needs to be fixed on the tower with the help of connecting hardware. Please refer to the table below for product model and specification selection:
(III) Optical cable ordering instructions:

(IV) Notes on ordering hardware:

Generally, the following technical parameters should be provided when ordering hardware:
1. Cable outer diameter and outer diameter tolerance;
2. Cable breaking strength;
3. Maximum allowable tension of optical cable;
4. Daily operating tension of optical cable;
5. Cable lateral compression strength;
6. Operating span;
7. The twist direction, short-circuit current capacity, and calculated cross-sectional area of the outermost strands of OPGW and OPPC optical cables;
8. If the aramid fiber of ADSS optical cable is single-twisted, the twist direction should be provided;
9. Other data and matters related to the contract.
